Cosmelan®

The Cosmelan® treatment is one of the most effective and safe treatments to eliminate discoloration and restore the balance of oily or mixed skin, giving it shine and smoothness. The Cosmelan® treatment is very popular all over the world. In Europe, this procedure has been performed for several years. The effectiveness of the therapy is so high that getting rid of discoloration occurs in less than three weeks.

Cosmelan® is a treatment aimed at reducing skin discoloration, which reduces dark spots and discoloration, resulting from excessive production of melanin or as a result of excessive exposure to solar radiation or hormonal disorders. Its revolutionary formula has been designed to achieve maximum efficiency and ensure optimal tolerance.

Cosmelan® acts on melanocytes, skin pigment cells that are found in the epidermis and are responsible for the excessive production of melanin. Cosmelan® inhibits the production of melanin, and thus reduces or brightens unsightly discoloration, discoloration or stains. The mechanism of action was based on the use of substances that retain tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in the formation of melanin. The sunstances contained in Cosmelan block the enzyme's activity or reverse metabolic changes.

Therapy depends on the individual needs of the patient, therefore the duration of therapy is determined individually.

The treatment with the use of a special Cosmelan® kit can be performed by specialized medical personnel.

How does it work and what is the Cosmelan treatment?

The treatment process consists of two stages:

• Stage 1- professional treatment in a specialized office of aesthetic medicine
• Stage 2 - continuation of treatment at home.

Procedure procedure

Before the planned treatment, the patient does not have to be specially prepared, the procedure is non-invasive. After the medical consultation, the procedure starts with skin preparation for the procedure. The next step is to apply the Cosmelan® mask.

The Cosmelan® mask must remain on the skin for approximately twelve hours. The time required to leave the mask on the skin is determined by the aesthetic medicine doctor according to the individual needs and problems of the patient. After returning home, the patient removes the mask, under a stream of running water, after a certain time set by the doctor. The time the mask stays depends on the skin's phototype.

During the next few days after applying Cosmelan, the patient may feel burning, a feeling of tension, and redness appears in the area undergoing treatment. This skin reaction is natural and disappears after a few days.

The second stage consists in applying the Cosmelan2® cream by the patient himself at home, for the period prescribed by the doctor.

After the first or second week of Cosmelan® treatment, the appearance of the skin is clearly improved. The stains are lighter and less visible, and the skin looks younger. Clinical trials have shown that treatment for age spots, dark spots and other skin discolorations is up to 95% effective.

Discontinuation of therapy causes unwanted discolorations to recur, so it should not be done. Individual results may vary and are determined by individual predispositions. After the procedure, follow-up appointments should be made.

The effects of the treatment:

After just a week, the appearance of the skin undergoing treatment is visibly improved. The type of skin has a big influence on the effect of the treatment. People with phototype skin IV and V (dark skin) can notice the effects will start faster because after just 8-10 days. People with phototype I and II notice the disappearance of spots between 8 and 21 days. The total effect of Cosmelan® treatment should be up to 30 days.

Is the Cosmelan® procedure a painful procedure?

The procedure itself is not painful, however, when you use Cosmlan2® at home, you may feel a sensation of heat on the skin, redness, skin tension and exfoliation.

 What are the recommendations after Cosmelan®?

• Immediately after the procedure, excessive temperature changes (sauna, steam baths or cryochamber) should be avoided for 2 weeks after the procedure.
• Do not peel or scratch the flaky skin.
• Avoid sun tanning and sun exposure for at least a month after the procedure.
• Avoid hair removal in treated areas.
• Do not use chemical peels, glycols, retinol or mechanical peeling for 30 days after the procedure.
• Use the recommended home care products to maximize your results.
• Do not apply makeup for 24-48 hours.
• Photoprotection of the skin with the SPF 50 cream is necessary to prevent the recurrence of pigmentation.
