The main task of stem cells is their unlimited cell division and the ability to differentiate into many cell lines.

Thanks to their property, stem cells play a significant role in modern medicine. Bone marrow is the best known source of cell division of mesenchymal origin. However, the number of cells obtained from the bone marrow is relatively small.

An alternative source of pathologemic stromal stem cells, apart from bone marrow, muscle tissue, articular membrane, periosteum, is also adipose tissue. Like bone marrow, it is of mesodermal origin. An unquestionable advantage of adipose tissue is its abundance, location and availability. The adipose tissue contains a heterogenous population of stromal cells.

What are the properties of adipose derived stem cells?

Cells obtained from adipose tissue display a large number of features in common with cells obtained from the bone marrow. It is, among others, the ability to adhere to plastic, high proliferation capacity, formation of form similar to colonies of fibroblasts and obtaining a form derived from other germ layers such as ectodermal neurons. Thanks to which adipose tissue is an ideal material for use in the development of cell therapy.

What is lipofilling?

Lipofiiling is a treatment in the field of aesthetic medicine, which involves taking fat tissue from a patient from one part of the body and injecting it into another part of the body. It is a safe, well-tolerated procedure that gives long-lasting natural-looking results.

What is the use of adipose stem cells and regenerative cells from adipose tissue?

This method has almost unlimited application potential. From the treatment of all types of scars, acne lesions to leveling wrinkles using stem cells. Thanks to them it is possible to obtain satisfactory volumetric effects of the face after the first treatment has been carried out. In addition, the condition and quality of the skin is clearly improving.

What is liposowing?

Liposowing is designed to model the face, hands and other parts of the body using its own fat cells enriched with stem cells, which were acquired from other parts of the body. The removal of stem cells from adipose tissue requires a two-stage procedure to be performed at strict intervals.

The own stem cells added to the transplanted fat cells increase the absorption of the given material and have an impact on the improvement of the skin's elasticity and quality, the skin tone increases (natural lifting) eliminating wrinkles and most discolorations. There is virtually no swelling or bruising after the procedure. The convalescence process is much faster and runs more comfortably.

The stem cells harvested from adipose tissue and new stem cells exhibit excellent regenerative properties. The results of the first surgical procedures using stem cells are very promising.

The advantages of this method:

  • Non-invasive (cells are collected and given a very delicate method)
  • Durability (results obtained during the treatment do not disappear with time, there is no need to repeat the procedure)
  • Safety (using your own cells during the treatment excludes the lack of transplantation and reduces the risk of infection)
  • No scars or cuts
  •  A natural look after the treatment
  • Recovery period up to two weeks after the procedure
  • The ability to combine the treatment with other rejuvenation procedures.

Who can undergo the lipofilling treatment?

The treatment is intended for people who want to restore the lost volume of tissues due to aging, scars or weight loss. For people with realistic expectations as to the appearance, as well as non-smoking people.

Indications for the procedure:

  • Loss of facial volume
  • Loss of face contours
  • Loss of skin firmness
  •  Loss of fat around the eye sockets
  • Enhancement of cheekbones
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Various types of scars
  • Photoaging of the skin
  • Lips enlargement
  • Aging skin of the hand

Is lipofilling safe?

The lipofilling treatment is a safe, minimally invasive procedure involving the absorption of autologous tissue from the patient. Thus, it exhibits a high level of safety which reduces the risk of side effects in the form of allergic and immune reactions or rejection. The agent used for lipofilling treatment is biocompatible, so it can be used subcutaneously without the risk of allergies and side effects. The lipofilling treatment is an alternative therapy method for patients who can not use other treatments in the field of aesthetic medicine, for example hyaluronic acid, implants or other fillers.

Is the treatment effective?

Research has shown that the treatment is effective in 90%. After successful surgery, the effects are visible after a few days. Long-lasting effects. The number of fat cells that will survive permanently can vary significantly in patients (0 - 80%) due to various factors: weight loss, smoking, poor lifestyle. In order to obtain a satisfactory result, the procedure is recommended to be repeated 2- 3 times, at intervals of 3-6 months.

How to prepare for the surgery?

  • One week before planned surgery, it is recommended to use arnica, vitamin K and C supplements
  • Stop taking blood thinners (aspirin, salicylic acid, etc.) two weeks before surgery
  • If you are a smoker, you must stop smoking at least one month before surgery and one month after surgery (high risk of complications such as bleeding or wound infections and delayed wound healing)
  •  At least 48 hours. Do not drink alcohol before the procedure.
  • The day before the procedure, remember to hydrate the body.
  • On the day of the surgery it is best to come on an empty stomach or after eating lightly digestible meals.
  • Avoid smoking or strong coffee before handling.

What does the procedure look like?

The treatment is performed by a doctor. Before the planned treatment, the doctor conducts an accurate interview with the patient regarding past and current diseases in order to qualify the patient for the procedure. During the consultation, the entire course of the procedure is discussed in order to ensure the patient's safety, explains to the patient the course of the procedure, its expected results, risk and possible complications. The written consent of the patient is obtained for the procedure.

The treatment requires the use of local anesthesia to relieve pain sensations.

Then the therapy plan is established, the treatment areas are marked exactly. Making photographs from different perspectives. The procedure consists of two stages, each stage takes about 60-90 minutes. However, it is necessary to add the time needed for medical consultation and anesthesia, which is individual for each person.

What is the time of convalescence after the procedure?

Most people return to their daily activities within 2 to 14 days, depending on the nature of their work.

What are the possible side effects?

  • Immediately after the surgery, there is a risk of bruising and swelling in the areas of the treatment area. There is a natural reaction of the organism that subsides in the following weeks.
  • Discomfort, stinging and pain,
  • Inequalities on the surface of the skin. Asymmetry and contour irregularities
  • Scars after removal of adipose tissue
  • There may be numbness and pigmentation, but they should disappear after a few months
  •  The area injected with fat will be tender, swollen and inflammatory. This state should stabilize in the first few days.

Post-treatment recommendations:

  • Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs
  • Avoid alcohol for one week
  • Avoid effort, heavy lifting, swimming and strenuous activity for 4 weeks
  • Control visit after 7 days after the procedure
  • Antibiotic cover for a period of 5 days after the procedure
  • Physical activity and facial massage are not recommended for at least one month after the procedure
  •  During the first month after the procedure, the patient should avoid exposure to UV radiation
  •  Do not use the sauna or pool for a month

Contraindications:

  • Patients who actively smoke or use blood thinners
  • Bad health condition,
  • Pregnancy, breast-feeding
  •  Infections (bacterial, viral, fungal),
  •  Coagulation disorders,
  •  Autoimmune diseases,
  •  Patients with personality disorders and unrealistic expectations,
  • Chronic keloids
  •  Excessive adipose tissue or a thin layer of tissue
